Airstream
on "The Apprentice"
Photo:
NBC Universal In a recent episode of the "The Apprentice" called "Airstream of
Consciousness," two of the famous silver beauties were put at the disposal of
the two teams vying to become Donald Trump's new apprentice. The task was to
develop a creative mobile service in a day and sell the service to the public.
The team making the most money in one day wins the challenge and avoids having
one member fired by the Donald.
For those who don't follow Trump's show,
this season's edition has pitted a group of college-educated men and women
("Book Smarts") against a team of non-degreed professionals ("Street Smarts").
The BS team developed a mobile spa, while the SS team went for broke and
created a mobile casting studio, thinking that every other person in New York
City is an out-of-work actor. The two teams had $5,000 in seed money and a team
of Airstream workers at their beck and call to customize their trailers to their
needs. (Wouldn't it be nice to have your own staff to customize your
RV?)
After the customization, the two teams took their Airstreams to the
streets of the Big Apple. The Book Smarts team had tables for massages and
manicurists installed in their trailer. Street Smarts didn't have the proverbial
casting couch in their Airstream (they recruited a female casting director who
was currently casting for an Uma Thurman movie), but they did have a modified
office layout with chairs and a separate entryway shrouded with veils and
curtain. Fitting for a New York casting director.
Want to guess which team
won?
Street Smarts beat Book Smarts by about $80.
The winning team
received $20,000 to spend on itself at the finest pearl jewelry store in New
York City.
No word if the Donald got the Airstreams in the end.
