Dinosaurs on the Road
Soon after their fossils were
first discovered in the 1800s, it
seems dinosaurs became the super
models of the Stone Age. They attract
attention. They sell products and
services. We are fascinated with
them, so today, dinosaurs dot the
American landscape.
You can see them along the side
of the road in dozens and dozens
of states. Debra Jane has made it
her mission in life for the past
30 years to record them on her webpage
at http://www.agilitynut.com/dinos/main.html.
(She also records signs, large vegetables
and insects and other things along
the road).
You can see a whole gaggle of
dinosaurs at Dinosaurland in White
Post, Va.

In Port Orange, Fla., at Sugar
Mill Gardens, you can see five concrete-and-wire
dinosaurs, left over from Bongoland,
an attempt at a theme park. Now,
the area is used for weddings….theme
weddings?
You can see dinosaurs in Wharton,
Glenrose, Bastrop, Natural Bridge
Caverns, and Canadian, Texas. This
brontosaurus in Wharton is made
of fiberglass and is 77 feet long.
He resides in a park near the Colorado
River.
Have you seen a roadside dinosaur?
Can you prove it with a photo? If
so, send it in, and we’ll make you
famous for 15 minutes next month
on the website.
