KOA Louisville Metro - Great Services, Friendly and
Will Answer Any Question Over the Phone

By Jack Kean
Posted June 2012

There are 115 sites that include tenting as well as 30- and 50-AMP service. The sites are level and paved with paved interior roads. You will find almost all of the amenities, such as cable TV and free Wi-Fi throughout the park. Swimming is available at the Holiday Inn just down the road. Shower facilities are also available. The staff is friendly and helpful with maps and directions.

From I-65 take exit 1 in Indiana. If coming from the south, you will find an exit before exit 1, but don't take it. You will travel west about one block and see the sign for KOA. Take a left before the sign and you are about three blocks away. Don't be discouraged by the lack of beautiful surroundings. This campground is very functional.

We paid a little under $40 per night and with a 32-foot unit plus tow, were just able to get it all on our site. The average site is reported to be about 28 feet wide. There were some much larger units at the campground on 50-AMP sites, and they were able to put RV and tow on site.

The interior of the campground is mostly paved sites with gravel between. There are grassy areas for tenting. There are also a few trees for shade, but not many. You will find a nice store on site with everything from postcards to beer. Next door is a large RV sales and service facility.

What makes this campground is location. One mile across the bridge and you are in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. Across the street is the Derby Dinner Theater, and it is a treat you don't want to miss. A few blocks away and you are sitting in a restaurant on the Ohio River. It is seven miles from Churchill Downs and less than a mile from Falls of the Ohio State Park.

We first paid for two days and then one additional day and then three more. Unfortunately for us, we didn't just pay for a week and take advantage of the cheaper rate.

If you are interested in visiting the Louisville, Kentucky area this campground is for you. They are a simple phone call away and happy to answer any questions you might have about the campground or the services they provide--easy to reach without having to press lots of buttons like when using a phone answering service.
