Baywood Camping & RV Park - 30 Years on the Gulf
Coast
Baywood Camping and RV Park in Gulfport, MS has been offering family camping
on the Gulf of Mexico for 30 years. The park is full of oak trees, and was
undamaged by the hurricanes that hit many other areas along the Gulf Coast in
2004. RVers can enjoy comfortable, shady sites less than a mile from the
beautiful Gulf beaches. Baywood is also convenient to the casinos, shopping and
all of the entertainment along Mississippi's Gulf Coast.
The park offers 114
RV sites and can accommodate almost any size RV. Excellent fishing and boating
are right out the back gate at Gulfport's back bay. Baywood also has a swimming
pool for RVers who don't want ocean swimming.
Baywood first opened in the mid
1970s. That was before the casinos moved to the area, and Gulfport was mainly a
residential community along the beach with historic homes. Today Gulfport is one
of the fastest growing areas in the state, due in part to dockside gaming
activities, which began in 1993.
Baywood RV Park has changed with the times,
too. The park was purchased seven years ago by Bob Williams. Improvements
include level, concrete pads with full hookup pull-throughs and cable TV. The
office, laundry facilities and shower rooms have been renovated, and a grocery
with RV supplies provides visitors with many of their everyday needs.
