RV AND MOTOR HOME OWNERS/USERS TURN TO TELADOC’S TELEPHONE MEDICAL CONSULTS FOR CONVENIENT, AFFORDABLE ACCESS TO PHYSICIANS

TelaDoc’s telephone medical consult program aligns with RV lifestyle – offers cost-effective, around-the-clock telephone access to doctors 

DALLAS, Tex., August 3, 2006 – For today’s estimated 7.9 million RV owners and motor home users who are always on the go, TelaDoc Medical Services, Inc. (www.TelaDoc.com) offers the convenience of simply picking up the telephone and receiving quality, affordable medical care from primary care physicians (PCPs), wherever or whenever services are needed. TelaDoc quickly resolves routine conditions such as upper respiratory infections, allergies or rashes, at a lower cost and in a fraction of the time people spend accessing care from urgent care facilities, hospital emergency rooms or physician offices.

TelaDoc’s national network of state licensed, board certified physicians is available 24/7 to diagnose and resolve routine medical issues over the telephone for TelaDoc members age 12 and up. Physicians may prescribe medications (no DEA controlled substances/or narcotics), if appropriate. TelaDoc accepts all major credit or debit cards.

Services are modestly priced at $35 per consult, about the same price tag as a physician office co-pay.

Since most non-emergent medical cases can be diagnosed over the phone, TelaDoc is ideal for people who are regularly traveling the highways and byways, or when the primary doctor is not available. Life-threatening conditions are referred to the hospital emergency room, and all patients are advised to follow up with their PCP.

“Members get fast answers to their medical needs, and in cases where an Rx prescription is appropriate, TelaDoc phones in the script to the pharmacy nearest to the RV site,” Gorton says. “Our service is especially valuable when people get sick in the middle of the night or on weekends.”

For those who are frequently on the road, one of the most attractive aspects of the TelaDoc program is the portable Electronic Health Record (EHR), a free benefit of the service.

“Prior to and during each telephone consult, our physicians have access to the patient’s EHR, which is populated with personalized background data that guides the medical consult,” explains Robert I. Kramer, M.D., Chief Medical Officer of TelaDoc. “This record is updated and available to the individual’s PCP to further enhance the continuity of care. The TelaDoc EHR is capable of being the only medical record a member will need for healthcare, and we encourage our members to populate their TelaDoc EHRs with charts, blood tests, along with data from all of their physicians.”
